Fall Prevention Program

Our Fall Prevention Program provides educational information on fall prevention, an initial home assessment visit, and recommendations.

Did You Know?

  • 1 out of 3 seniors (65 and older) will fall every year. Those 85 and older are 5 to 10 times more likely to fall, resulting in injuries like hip and bone fractures and brain trauma.

  • DOH's Injury Prevention Branch show that about 128 seniors in Hawai'i die each year from fall related injuries. Another 9,950 are treated in hospitals for non-fatal injuries, including 2,010 who are hospitalized.

  • Falls exact a heavy emotional, physical, and financial toll on seniors, their caregivers, and the healthcare system, resulting in estimated hospital charges of nearly $207 million a year, statewide.

The Fall Prevention Program provides:

  • An initial fall prevention assessment visit

  • Educational information on fall prevention

  • Recommendations of possible home modifications

  • A follow-up home assessment
